The external electron source is used to enhance the luminous efficiency of organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). Based on the electrons emission characteristics of carbon nanotubes (CNTs), an OLED combined with a CNTs template is proposed. Electrons emitted from the CNTs template impact the Al cathode layer of an OLED device and transport arriving at the emission layer. Balanced recombination of electrons and holes occurs in the OLED and the luminous efficiency can be enhanced by 50%.
