Visible light-mediated polychlorination of alkenes via the dichloromethyl radical generated by chloroform and chlorides

A protocol for visible light-mediated selective C–Cl activation of chlorides for the polychlorination of alkenes has been developed. This strategy allows for the installation of multiple chlorine atoms into double bonds under mild conditions.
