Magnesium-aluminum hydrotalcite with Mg/Al molar ratio of 2 ∶1 was synthesized by coprecipitation.Mg/Al-hydrotalcite was surface modified by using monostearin. The main factors affecting activation index have been studied. The optimum process conditions are as follows:the dosage of modification agent 4%,the time of modification 40 min,the temperature of modification 60 ℃.FTIR,X-ray and TG-DTA were performed to characterize the Mg/Al-hydrotalcites.It was found that hydrogen binding adsorption was existed between Mg/Al-hydrotalcite and monostearin, the treating effect was good, and the structure of Mg/Al-hydrotalcite was not changed after surface modification.
