Objective To discusss the mechanism of the inhibitory effects of diclofenac sodium on the proliferation of rabbit corneal epithelial cells(RCECs).Methods The primary cultured and subcultured of RCECs were exposed to diclofenac sodium(final concentration:12.5 mg·L~ -1 ) in experimental group and to culture medium in control group. The changes of the apoptosis indexes were measured by strept avidin-biotin-enzyme complex. Results Immunocytochemistry showed wide type p53 and Caspase-3 were increased while PCNA was weaken in experimental group. Conclusion Diclofenac sodium may exert its antiproliferative effect by inducing apoptosis and ceasing cells cycles.
