Objective To analyze prognosis on hyponatremia in cirrhotic patients with ascites,and to advise the clinical doctors to pay emphasis on hyponatremia in cirrhosis.Methods Hyponatremic patients with ascites in cirrhosis during the period of 2001.9 to 2004.9 were listed in this study with their clinical data,to analyze hyponatremia severity and prognosis,using χ2 text to check the significant difference.Results In eighty-six patients,the incident rate of hyponatremia was 44%,37% and 19%,respectively,in mild,middle and heavy degrees of hyponatremia.The normalized plasma sodium rate was 71%,31%and 6%;and the mortality was 0,19% and 38%,respectively,in three groups.Conclusion Hyponatremia is one of the common complications in cirrhosis with ascites.The prognosis is bad,and there is a high mortality in middle and heavy-degree hyponatremia.
