Treatment of Phenol-bearing Wastewater from p-Hydroxyphenylhydantoin Production

Distillation,extraction and absorption with macroporous resin were used to treat phenol bearing wastewater from D p hydroxyphenylglycine production by chemical enzymatic method.The rate of phenol removal could achieve nearly 100%.160 kg phenol and 1700 kg dilute hydrochloric acid were obtained by treating the wastewater from 1000 kg p hydroxyphenylhydantoin production.The mother liquor of distillation could be used in the synthesis of p hydroxyphenylhydantoin to increase by 10% the yield.The recovered sodium phenolate could be reused in the synthesis.
