Development of Money Attitude Scale and Research on Its Validity and Reliability

Objective:To test the validity and reliability of the Money Attitude Scale(MAS) adapted from English.Methods:317 graduates from Chinese Academy of Sciences took both Money Attitude Scale and Social Axioms Survey(SAS).Results:Confirmatory factor analysis proves that the structure of the new MAS fit for the 4-factor structure of the English version Money Attitude Scale(χ2 =323.33,df =164,RMSEA=0.051).The Cronbach's α of coefficient and of the retest in 2 weeks of the 4 factors are higher than 0.60.The 4 factors are related in a middle degree(from 0.13 to 0.40,P 0.05).What is more,the 4 factors are related to subjects' sex,socioeconomic status and social belief.Conclusion:The adapted MAS has a good reliability,structural validity,convergent validity and discriminate validity.
