Formation and absorbtion spectrum of Sm rare earth borosilicate glasses

Using conventional glass making techniques, high content rare earth borosilicate glasses can be prepared. The glassforming regions of rare earth borosilicate glasses have been determined in the experiment.Also, much work had been done to investigate the absorption spectrums of rare earth borosilicate glasses. All the data suggest that the rare earth ions play a unique role in the structure of these glasses.
