The application of determinaton of urinary albumin to the observation of early impaired renal function in patients with hypertension and diabetes

Objective To investigate the diagnostic value of urinary albumin for the detection of early impaired rena function in patients with hypertension and diabetes.Methods The levels of blood urea,creatinine and urinary albumin in 159 cases of patients,who were divided into the group of 87 patients with hypertension,24 with diabetic and 48 with both hypertension and diabetic and 115 healthy controls were measured.Results The levels of urinary albumin in 159 patients with hypertension or diabetic were significantly different than those in healthy controls(P0.001).The positive rate of urinary albumin was higher than that of urea and creatinine.Conclusion In the patients with diabetes and hypertension at the time when the renal function was early impaired,the urea and creatine,although increased,were at a normal level.However,the urinary albumin levels were significantly above the normal.Therefore,detection of urinary albumin has important clinical significance for observation of early impaired renal function in patients with diabetes and hypertension.
