摘要
Non-severe burn injuries make up the majority of burns in Western Australia and globally, yet they
are not well researched. The inflammatory response to a burn injury, coupled to a leaky blood-brain
barrier as a result of trauma, may lead to immune changes in the brain that underlie the long-term
increase of mental health hospital admissions observed in burn patients. In this project, we
investigate the impact of non-severe burn injuries on the quality of life of paediatric burn patients, and
the long-term changes that occur in the brain after non-severe burn injuries that may underlie longterm
pathologies after burns.
