ChemInform Abstract: The Reaction of Some o‐Nitroazobenzenes with Hydroxylamine.

Abstract Hydroxylamine (used as its hydrochloride) in NaOH/EtOH is found to be mild reducing agent which converts the title compounds (I) and (IV) into the corresponding benzotriazole 1‐oxides (II) and (V); in some cases, the parent benzotriazoles (IIIa), (IIIc), and (VIa) are also formed.
