JAK–STAT pathway is involved in cutaneous sclerosis processes: Generalized morphea successfully treated with baricitinib

systemic sclerosis, with improvement in cutaneous induration, but also resolving digital ulcers and improving pulmonary disease. 4,5 We have not observed AEs during treatment.Baricitinib has a better safety profile than tofacitinib as it is a more selective inhibitor of the JAK pathway.Combination therapy with baricitinib and other drugs has been reported without AEs; 4,5 the decision to use it alone or in combination depends on the response to previous treatments.It should be noted that it being an effective and rapid treatment allowed us to reduce the dose of other immunosuppressive drugs.In conclusion, as the JAK STAT pathway is involved in the pathophysiology of skin fibrosis, baricitinib may be a useful therapeutic option in patients with morphea because of its rapid response and good safety profile.
