Scattering of slow neutrons by bismuth and lead and the electric polarizability of the neutron

Published data on the interaction of neutrons with bismuth and lead nuclei up to energy 200 keV are analyzed. Neutron resonances are taken into account in the expression for the scattering amplitude. Values are obtained for the neutron electric polarizability ..cap alpha.. and the neutron-electron scattering length a. (AIP)
