Salidroside was produced using Rhodiola rosea cell cultures via biotransformation (glucosylation) of the exogenously added p-tyrosol substrate within an in vitro system. The substrate was transformed up to 57% after 72 hours of incubation. Among the biotransformation products, salidroside and tyrosol were found in intracellular spaces of all the cells treated using TLC and RP-HPLC methods. Salidroside yields of 1.21-2.31% dry weight were obtained.
