Objective To introduce the current application of poly(lactide-co-glycolide)(PLGA) nanoparticles or microparticles as the carriers of macromolecules.Method To review the related literatures comprehensively.Result PLGA and PLGA-based polymers are biocompatibile and biodegradable, and have been widely explored as carriers for the delivery of macromolecular therapeutics such as proteins, peptides.Conclusion PLGA can be blended with other adjuncts or modified to improve its property as drug carriers.PLGA nanoparticles or microparticles are promising carriers for the delivery of macromolecular therapeutics.
