Degradation of phthalocyanine dye by photocatalysis oxidation of nano TiO_2

Nano TiO 2 powder, as the photocatalyst, has exclusive ability on the degradation of phthalocyanine dyes. Factors exerting effects on decolorization and degradation, such as pH value, catalyst add on, dyestuff concentration and decolorizing time were discussed. Results showed that TiO 2 powder could reduce not only the color of the solution, but also the TOC and the molecule of the dye. Therefore, this new method features a bright future in the disposing of dyehouse waste.
