A kind of copper-based catalysts has been applied for the catalytic synthesis of methyl glycolate(MG) from hydrogenation of dimethyl oxalate(DMO).The catalytic results show that a relatively high selectivity for MG(80%) can be given when the conversion of DMO reached 96%.Under our experimental conditions, the stabilities of the catalysts have been tested for the title reaction during 1000h.And it is found that a certain degree of deactivation appeared after the catalysts was investigated for 900 h.Combined with results from the technical characterizations from XRD,FT-IR,TG-DSC,H2-TPR and ICP,it is concluded that the sinterings of acitive components, the coke deposition and carrier silicon drain may be the main reason for the copper-based catalyst deactivation.
