Text as an Object of Study in Semiotics

Though text analysis has a long history,text as an object of study in modern semiotics doesn't come naturally. The objects of semiotic inquiry have undergone the change from a single symbol to large groupings of symbols,i.e.,text. Taking shape in Saussurean semiotics and subsequently getting highlighted in Copenhagen School,Prague School and Paris Structural Semiotic School,text analysis has now become one of the central issues of modern semiotics.
