摘要
Seating design for physiotherapy for long term rehabilitation and for seat intervention whose mobility challenged is perhaps the most overlooked part of the process. Inappropriate seating usually causes augmented discomfort, poor postural alignment, and lack of therapeutic adherence and hence, affects the clinical outcomes. Optimal discomfort fitting is achieved and measured through subjective and objective metrics. Therefore, the objective of this research is to integrate discomfort assessment with physiotherapy seating design through validated discomfort and physiotherapy incorporated through discomfort ergonomic design elements and advanced discomfort technology. Patients can undergo subjective measures of discomfort capture through visual analog scales, body discomfort maps, and the modified Borg scale, whereas objective measures include pressure mapping, electromyography, and postural monitors that quantify biomechanical stress. Considering both the subjective and objective approaches covers patient need more thoroughly and improves the precision of therapeutic sitting arrangement configurations. Other more advanced topics include the critical attributes of physiotherapeutic seating: adjustability, supportive and mobilizable integral to embrace dynamic posture, and active control of pressure redistribution. These concepts further the understanding of their application to particular populations such as geriatric and bariatric patients with neurological disorders, and pediatrics. Novel ideas include smart seats, adaptive AI systems, 3D printed cushions, and analytics data integrated into the patient's care.
