The possibilities of constructive implementation of rotational seismometers using fundamentally new two-and four-element piezoelectric rotation sensors are considered. Based on a detailed review of existing piezoelectric accelerometers for strong earthquakes, a design for triaxial rotational piezoelectric accelerometers symmetric with respect to the vertical location component is proposed. Calculation for an instrument suitable for downhole observations is presented. The prospects of using the new modern piezoelectric materials are noted.
