The standardized aqueous and ethanol extracts of th e dried leaves of Rhynchosia beddomei B. were inves tigated for their wound healing potential in albino Wistar rats . Incision, excision and dead space wound models we re used to evaluate the wound healing property. The leaf extra cts were found to possess significant wound healing activity which was evidenced by decrease in the period of ep ithelization, increase in the rate of wound contrac tion, skin breaking strength of healed wound, dry weight and t ensile strength of granulation tissue. Histopatholo gical study of the granulation tissue confirmed increased collagen ation signifying the progress in wound healing. The present study substantiates wound healing effect of the lea f extracts of Rhynchosia beddomei.
