The synthesis of diduryl ketone

Abstract On repeating the synthesis of diduryl ketone (duryl = 2,3,5,6‐tetramethylphenyl) by means of the Friedel and Crafts reaction it was found that the resulting product is a mixture of isomeric ketones. The main component is duryl 2,3,4,6‐tetramethylphenyl ketone. Diduryl ketone together with two of the possible isomeric ketones can be synthesized by way of the Grignard reaction.
