摘要
Abstract Aluminum-Aluminum Nitride (Al−AlN) metal matrix composite (MMC) was synthesized by powder metallurgy method. Nanostructured AlN particles and micron-sized Al particles are mixed to form MMC. Pure AlN and Al are inert to each other at room temperature; hence the MMC is expected to have improved mechanical properties. The present work focuses on enhancement of mechanical properties with AlN particles in synthesized Al−AlN metal matrix composites by powder metallurgy method. Al and AlN powders were mixed in agate mortar and pestle followed by compaction and sintering. Hardness and wear study of synthesized composites were done and results were compared with pure Al. Density of composite material was investigated to understand porosity. The synthesized Al-AlN composite had improved mechanical properties than pure Al.
