Cognitive Function and Academic Achievement in Children with Early Childhood Atopic Dermatitis

Pediatric atopic dermatitis (AD) has been associated with mood and sleep disturbances and inattention (Ramirez et al., 2019; Strom et al., 2016; Wan et al., 2020). However, few studies of cognitive or academic outcomes in children with AD exist, and their findings are inconclusive (Camfferman et al., 2013; Daramola et al., 2010; Schmidt et al., 2021; Smirnova et al., 2019). We thus assessed the relationship of early-childhood AD with general cognitive function and academic achievement within a longitudinal United States pediatric cohort.
