Nurse Managers' Views and Experiences Concerning Green Management Practices: A Qualitative Study

ABSTRACT Green management, which is the promotion of sustainability and environmental management culture in hospitals and green hospitals have become a major goal of the health sector. This study was conducted to reveal the views and experiences of nurse managers regarding green management practices. This qualitative descriptive study used individual, in‐depth interviews. The study consisted of 25 nurse managers who were working in private, public, and university hospitals. Data were analyzed using content analysis. Content analysis resulted in four main themes: “green management practices in nursing services,” “green management and nurse managers in hospitals,” “improvement of environmentally responsible practices,” and “barriers and limitations in environmentally responsible nursing practices.” Nurse managers are integral to advancing green practices but face significant barriers, including organizational constraints and a perceived conflict with clinical priorities. The findings underscore the need for systemic support and dedicated training to translate environmental policies into practice.
