AbstractThe peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors belong to the superfamily of nuclear receptors which produce their effects, in part, by regulation of gene transcription. There are three peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR) isoforms; α, δ (also known as β), and γ, which are activated by a numerous ligands including endocannabinoids. Activation of these receptors has been shown to modulate inflammation, in a number of different animal models.
