Unpacking interviews, unpacking unemployment

This chapter engages in reflexivity from a critical perspective to unsettle critical method(ology). The chapter focuses on the implications of doing research interviews, which is a popular qualitative method in critical psychological and social science research, including governmentality studies. The enactment of interviews is unpacked, focusing on common practices such as the ‘insider/outsider’ problem or building rapport in interviews. Through carefully tracing the discursive practices, this chapter pinpoints how my research practices (re)psychologised the unemployed.
