[Osteomyelitis (spinal infection, spondylitis, spondylodiscitis) of the dens axis].

The authors present a rare case of osteomyelitis of the dens axis. The diagnostic procedure concerning vertebral infection is discussed. In this connection, particularly MRI is of great importance in early diagnosis.
