Preliminary Studies on Characteristics of Rice Glume-Opening and Its Effect

According to grain investigation of ten plants of two typical lines of one combination, the characteristics of glumeopening and its effect on rice were studied The results indicated that there were some differences between grains in glumeopening. The rates of glumeopening grains of different lines are of great difference The glumeopening at middle or lower and second branch was seriousThe rates of the specked grains, crabbed grains, and colorful grains, and the thickness of grains of glumeopening were more than those of the normal rice grains while 1000grain weight, length and width of glumeopening grains were poorer than those of the normal rice grains
