Clinical study of aripiprazole in treatment of schizophrenia

Objective:To study the efficacy and side effect of aripiprazole in the treatment of schizophrenic patients. Method:Thirty schizophrenic patients were treated with aripiprazole. The efficacy was measured with the positive and negative symptoms scale (PANSS).The adverse events were determined by the treatment emergent symptoms scale (TESS) and extrapyramidal symptom rating scale (ESRS). Results:The efficacy rate of aripiprazole was 86.7%,in which 60.0% were improved markedly. Extrapyramidal side effects were few. Conclusion:Aripiprazole is an effective drug for schizophrenia, with few side effects.
