Determination of Glycyrrhizic Acid and Liquiritin in Licorice by HPLC

Objective:A method for determination the content of the glycyrrhizic acid and liquiritin in licorice(Glycyrrhiza) by HPLC was established.Methods:The determination was carried out by HPLC on the C18 column(4.6mm×15cm,5μm).The mobile phase was consisted of acetonitrile-1% acetic acid with 0.6 ml·min-1 of the flow rate,and the temperature of column was 25℃.To determinate the quantitative assay using external standard method.Results:The linear range of the glycyrrhizic acid was good from 4.16μg/ml to 28.0μg/ml,the regression equation was Y=10562.8X+30963(r=0.9999);the linear range of the liquiritin was good from 13.0μg/ml to 23.4μg/ml,the regression equation was Y=12857.4X+16437(r=0.9997).The average recovery was more than 96.08% and the RSD of intra-day validations was less than 1.41%,of inter-day was less than 1.85%.Conclusions:The method is simple,rapid,convenient and selective.It can be used for controlling the quality of the glycyrrhizic acid and liquiritin from licorice.
