Review of stylistic approaches towards literary translation studies in the past three decades

Style is a significant dimension of translation studies. The fast maturing modern stylistics has greatly boosted translation studies. It was not until the 1980 s,both in China and the west,that stylistics began to truly emerge as a valued tool for literary translation studies. This article attempts a review of stylistically-driven literary translation studies during the past 30 years,which have shown three trends: increasing application of specific stylistic perspectives; a growing concern with specific stylistic phenomenon; and the emergence of computational stylistics in literary translation studies. Despite a fast growth,stylistically-driven researches on literary translation are yet to mature on two fronts: systematization and cross-language contrastive studies.
