On Current Researches of Chemical Compositions of Momordica charantia L.

Momordica charantia L.is an edible plant with some medicinal value.Due to its significant physiological activities,it features antidiabetic,antitumor,antiviral,anti-arrhythmic functions and is also effective in calming the heart.Based on the recent researches of Momordica charantia L' s chemical compositions,this paper gives a summary of the extraction methods and chemical compositions of various parts of Momordica charantia L.,such as the seeds,the immature fruits and the cauline leaves.The emphasis has been put on triterpenes and steroids.
