Recently, Barba et al. published an interesting article on temporal plus epilepsy as a major determinant of temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) surgery failures (Barba et al. , 2015). In that article, they identified four predictors for failure of TLE surgery: temporal plus epilepsy, postoperative hippocampal remnant, past history of traumatic or infectious brain insult, and preoperative secondary generalized tonic-clonic seizures (Barba et al. , 2015).
