Trends in the incidence, mortality and clinical outcomes in patients with ventricular septal rupture following an ST-elevation myocardial infarction

Mortality in post-STEMI VSR remains high with no improvement over time. Most patients are managed conservatively, and the frequency of surgical repair has decreased, while TCR has increased over the study period. Despite design limitations and survival bias, surgical repair at greater than or equal to 4 days was associated with a lower mortality.
