The influence of expansion rate on the condensation characteristics of nitrogen/vapor mixture in supersonic flow is studied using the mathematic model of two-component gas mixture. The mathematic model is verified by experiments, and it is shown that the mathematic model is accurate enough. Then,it is used for studying the influence of expansion rate on the condensation characteristics of nitrogen/vapor mixture in supersonic condensation flow.It is found that in the same inlet parameters, with the increasing of expansion rate, the undercooling limit, droplet nucleation rate and droplet number increase, but droplet radius reduces. The effects of expansion rate and droplet radius on separation result must be considered in the design of supersonic separators to get better separating efficiency.
