Relationship between bovine milk somatic cell counts and milk protein profiles

427 milk samples were collected from 30 Holstein dairy cows in a farm of Huhhot suburb during May to October in 2005.Milk somatic cell counts,total protein,casein(including α-cn,β-cn and κ-cn),whey protein,free amino nitrogen were determined.The results showed that total milk protein,free amino nitrogen and whey protein/total protein were much significantly positively related with SCC.Casein/total protein was much significantly negatively related with SCC.Whey protein was highly significantly positively related with SCC.Casein content,α-cn/casein,β-cn/ casein,κ-cn/ casein had no relationship with SCC.Casein content had highly significantly positive correlation with total protein content,and highly significantly negative correlation with free amino nitrogen content and whey protein/total protein;Whey protein content had highly significantly positive correlation with free amino nitrogen and total protein content.
