The inhibition effect of benzotriazole on copper by AFM method

Copper and its alloys are widely used in industries because of their good resistance to corrosion and are often used in cooling water systems,benzotriazole(BTA) is a useful inhibitor to copper.The inhibitive effect of benzotriazole(BTA) for copper in artificial sea-water was studied by traditional electrochemistry measurement and atomic force microscopic(AFM).The results show inhibition effiencey(IE) increases with the concentration of BTA,100 mg/L BTA can protect effectively copper.Electrochemistry measurement show BTA and copper can form n film on the surface;AFM analysis show the film become compact with the time going and have good protection.
