AIM: To explore the change of contents of flavonoids, anthraquinones and alkaloids among different compatibilities of medicinal materials in Xiexin decoction. METHODS: By HPLC-DAD-MS, with acetonitrile-0.02mol·L-1 acetic ammonium(adjusted pH to 3.50 with acetic acid)as mobile phase(using gradient)and the wavelength of the DAD detector was set at 254 nm, 278 nm and 270 nm. RESULTS: The mutative trend of 20 compounds could be clarified by HPLC-MS, among which 10 had been determined by HPLC-DAD. CONCLUSION: The assay results showed that the contents of these compounds were related to different compatibilities. When the three medicinal materials were decocted together, the anthraquinones were increased except Rhein, while the flavonids and the alkaloids were all decreased to some extent. HPLC-DAD-MS could be used to study the compatibility of some traditional Chinese medicines.
