Analysis of candida isolated from feces specimens of inpatients

Objective To analyze candida in feces of inpatients.Methods Candida strains isolated from feces specimens of inpatients in Bethune International Peace Hospital from April 1 to 30,2008,were identified by the CHROMagar medium. The clinical data of inpatients was collected.Results In the study period,1 011 specimens of feces were sent for detection, and 86 (8.51%) were positive for fungi, 76(7.52%) positive for Candida.The positive proportion of blastospore and /or pseudohypha in abnormal shape feces was higher than in normal shape feces (P0.01).Conclusions Blastospore and/or pseudohypha in feces specimens are important clues for diagnosis of gastrointestinal candida infection.
