Preparation and Characterization of Nanometer Silica

Nanometer silica (average particle size 60～100 nm) has been prepared by hydrolysis and condensation of tetraethyl orthosilicate,and then incorporated with proper amount of surfactant,cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB).The mechanism of forming of silica and function of CTAB were discussed.The product was characterized by FTIR,XRD,and TEM.
