The hydrolysis process of PVC waste plastics was studied in an autoclave reactor under different operating conditions such as temperature, reaction time, pressure, alkali concentration. It is found that about 90% chlorine in PVC can be effectively removed within 2h at temperature 220℃ and 10% chlorine remained in volatile gas and residues. The elemental analysis and FTIR were conducted to analyze composition of products. It is found that the hydrolysis process of PVC is an effective dechlorination method.
