Mean-Temperature Difference in One, Two, and Three-Pass Crossflow Heat Exchangers

Abstract A review is presented of the mean-temperature-difference equations for all previously solved cases of crossflow exchangers. A numerical integration procedure was used to obtain data for the single-pass case with both fluids unmixed. All of the previously unsolved cases of two and three-pass crossflow exchangers were also solved by numerical integration, using a cyclical reiteration process for the countercurrent cases. Design data in the form of correction factors are presented for all cases not previously solved.
