Electrospinning of Cellulose and Cellulose Derivatives

Electrospinning , as an advanced technique to prepare nanofibers , has been widely used in recent years. Cellulose and cellulose derivatives are used in various fields due to their predominant properties. The combination of their advantages has developed a new research field. The principle and research background of electrospinning as well as the progress on electrospinning of cellulose and cellulose derivatives are reviewed in this paper. Specially , the different solvent systems to dissolve cellulose and cellulose derivatives together with the resent development are commented , and their advantages and disadvantages in electrospinning are compared. The foreground of this research field is also pointed out .
