Changzhou Lock No.3 4 is the water-economizing locks,which have the biggest lock chamber inplane size in China,and pour the discharged water each other. They are designed to parallel lock No.1 2 alongsame bank. The layout of lock No.3 4 is introduced firstly,then side-branch-hole filling emptying systemadopting lock bottom long culvert is compared with the filling emptying system adopting lock bottom horizontalbranch-culvert of unilateral wall long culvert,which leads to the recommended filling and emptying system.Water-flow condition of the approach channel is analyzed by using physical model test. By predicting the proportionof different ships getting across the lock gate in the future,the locks' throughput capacities are calculated fordifferent years. In addition,computer simulation techniques are adopted to study four-way locks combinationscheduling plan.
