EFFECT OF AZADIRACHTIN ON THE BIOACTIVITIES ANDPROTEIN EXPRESS IN ASIAN CORN BORER( OSTRINIA FURNACALIS GUENEE)

The bioactivities of azadirachtin (Az) on 3 rd instar larvae of Ostrinia furnacalis were investigated. The results showed that azadirachtin had remarkable toxicity and growth inhibition to the experimental insects. The larvae treated with 3×10 -6 ~15×10 -6 ( w ) azadirachtin caused, in a dose-dependent manner, activities reducing, pupation delaying, and many kinds of abnormal larvae, pupae and adult insects. Total protein of the pupae treated for 48 h decreased against with the treated dose levels. The results of SDS-PAGE showed that there were six differential proteins present or absent after treatment. It is suggested that the proteins have some correlation with azadirachtin to the effect of insect growth. Fig 2, Tab 1, Ref 20
