The conglomerate reservoirs refer to the reservoirs with conglomerate as the main reservoir and producing pay. Due to the peculiarity of the rock structure and pore structure of the reservoir , they are different in development from the ordinary clastic reservoirs--- sandstone reservoirs, especially when the conglomerate reservoirs are generally largely heterogeneous, which brings great difficulty to field (reservoir) development. The number of conglomerate oil and gas fields is no big enough to achieve adequate data to make comparison between the conglomerate reservoirs in Karamay and those abroad. Several examples of conglomerate reservoirs and fields have been provided for comparison, the result of which is used to evaluate the development efficiency of Karamay conglomerate reservoirs on the basis of systematic summarization on the basic characteristics and development history of the conglomerate reservoirs of the examples. It is inferred through evaluation that the conglomerate reservoirs is generally characterized by severe heterogeneity , complex pore structure and that the sedimentary facies belt and tectonic movement are the primary factors controlling the oil-field production. It is pointed out that the technologies applied in the development of the conglomerate reservoirs in Karamay are no less advanced than those applied abroad, however the economics is significantly lower than the similar reservoirs abroad, and this is associated with such factors as small thickness, low reserve abundance, high crude viscosity, low natural drive and thus the resulting single-well production rate, etc. That is why we should learn the advanced technologies from home and abroad to enhance the economic of the conglomerate reservoir development in Karamay.
