The article describes the analysis of stresses in the concrete slab of an airport runway using the finite element method and the ices-strudl computer program. Rigid pavement is presented as a mathematical model, i.e. A beam on a flexible support with and without friction between the concrete slab and the support layer, a slab on a flexible support (from finite elements), a linear model of the finite elements network and a beam (slab) on a flexible support for analyzing the influence of a movable load and the influence of different temperatures. Test results show that they are, generally, in accordance with the calculation results based on ordinary theoretical approaches.
