A REVIEW OF THE NORTH AMERICAN SPECIES OF THE OMALIINE GENERAPORRHODITESKRAATZ ANDOROCHARESKRAATZ (COLEOPTERA: STAPHYLINIDAE)

Abstract The genusPorrhoditesKraatz is redescribed to include the NearcticParadeliphrum inflatumHatch, as well as the HolarcticPorrhodites fenestralis(Zetterstedt).OrocharesKraatz is also redescribed to includeParadeliphrum(new synonymy). In addition toO. angustatusErichson from Europe,O. japonicusCameron from Japan andO. villiersiJarrige from Iran,Orocharesnow includes two Nearctic species,Paradeliphrum tumidumHatch from the Pacific Northwest and the new speciesO. suterifrom Illinois and Wisconsin. Keys are provided to distinguish the North American species of each genus, and the major diagnostic characters of all included taxa are illustrated.
