摘要
This paper presents the results of a study of the performance of high-speed steel (HSS) milling cutters with and without an antiwear TiCrN coating when milling medium density fiberboard (MDF). The tests were conducted when processing MDF by milling at different cutting speeds. The main microgeometric parameter for evaluation was the cutter edge radius r, as determined by optical profilometry. The measurements were made on a 2726 m cutting length. It has been shown that cutters with a TiCrN coating have a wear resistance that is better by 19% than that of coating-free cutters. It was seen that the cutting length has the greatest influence on the wear of milling cutter blades, whereas the wear intensity of both cutters (with and without the coating) and the cutting power increased at an increase feed per cutter from 0.5 to 1 mm.
